The Story

Listening to vinyl is more than just playing music. It’s a ritual. Picking the record, taking it out of its sleeve, placing it on the turntable, lowering the needle, and letting the sound fill the room. And if it’s paired with a good coffee, even better.

As a kid, in 90s Havana, whenever the power outages allowed, the Soviet turntable would come to life in our living room. There wasn’t much else to do, so I played 60s records over and over while my grandfather told me stories about his life as a musician. He talked about stages, endless nights, songs that were never recorded. And even though some of those records weren’t in the best condition, they played as if they held secrets in their grooves.

My grandfather has been gone for many years, but he left me his passion—for music, for records, and for stories. And every time I place a vinyl on the turntable, I go back to the same place: my living room in Havana, sunlight streaming through the window, and my grandfather’s voice accompanying every note.

Years passed, but the ritual remained. Almost every afternoon, between coffee and vinyl, conversations revolved around everything and nothing—work, crazy ideas, theories about how to fix the world. Until one day, in the middle of one of those chats, a question came up:

— Have you ever noticed how hard it is to find a decent piece of furniture for vinyl?

It was true. Either they were too fragile, too heavy, or just plain ugly. The solution was obvious: we had to do something about it.

It wasn’t just about creating a piece of furniture. It was about respecting the ritual. Designing something functional, easy to move, something that worked just as well for those with massive collections as for those just starting out. Something that did justice to the physical format.

That’s how Keep Them Spinning was born. What started as an idea over coffee and vinyl became a brand with thousands of sales. But beyond that, the ritual remains the same: every afternoon, a record, a coffee, and the excitement of continuing to create furniture and stands for everyone who loves music as much as we do.
